HATIS
Corporation Announces New CEO, Name Change, Agreement with LivePerson.com
Walnut
Creek, Calif., May 2, 2000---New Chief Executive Officer, William
L. Morgan, announced effective immediately a name change of the
company from Life Sounds Incorporated to HATIS® Corporation
and agreement with LivePerson.com.
In announcing the name change, Mr. Morgan said, "The company's future
growth is best served by elevating our leading brand -- HATIS® --
(Hearing Aid Telephone Interconnect Systems) to the level millions
of hearing impaired people associate with clear, crisp digital cell
phone sound already. We were diluting a world-renowned brand until
we discovered hundreds of websites featuring HATIS rather than the
previous corporate identity. A company is your brand and your brand
is your company. For better or for worse you bet the farm on your
brand. Anything less and you're using 'diversification' as a retreat
strategy".
HATIS® enables people who wear hearing aids equipped with a telecoil
to convert ordinary aids from amplification devices to receiving
units using a standard headset jack like that found on most new
cell phones and many cordless models (either with a 2.5 millimeter
jack or an adaptor). According to Morgan, "HATIS was issued its
U.S. Patent because it produces distortion-free sound from otherwise
distortion-producing digital phones and other electromagnetic fields
such as that emanating from typical overhead office lighting, TVs
and computers. I have hearing aids 15 years old that work like new
when using HATIS on my cell and office phones. I buy new hearing
aids because I'm a technological junkie, but there are hundreds
of thousands of people who can't afford new ones who can hear for
the first time on telephones, using HATIS -- and the old jalopy".
Morgan has lost all but 20% of his hearing, which began from hereditary
nerve loss at birth.
Former CEO, majority shareholder and now COO, Alice M. Morgan, decided
"The best person to lead a hearing healthcare product into the 21st
century is someone who is fully hearing impaired and approaches
solving the problem with natural empathy, not-to-mention 35 years
business experience. My husband is on the phone all day long and
enjoys tremendously the challenge of 'making the magic real' for
hearing inconvenienced people. Bill likes being right out there
and showing people how they can change the world with HATIS® - just
as it did for him. My background is operations; that is what I do
well with 29 years experience. His becoming CEO and my taking over
as Chief Operations Officer was an ideal change on the heels of
my purchase of the patents and founding of the company. Our respective
positions are where we can make the most difference for our customers,
shareholders and employees and that is what we do in this company".
HATIS Marketing Vice President, Brook T. Langston, announced a new
Services Agreement with LivePerson.com for May 15th launch. "What
our customers think is vitally important to HATIS' future", said
Langston. "We chose the leader in web-based, real-time communications
to provide individuals a unique tool for exchanging information
on our website. Unlike a traditional chat room, LivePerson® technology
affords our customers the privacy of discussing questions or comments
they have with us - online - at virtually any place on our website.
Our customers receive the traditional one-on-one care that they
have come to expect and appreciate in a traditional brick and mortar
store. For many of the people that come to us, the telephone is
an extremely frustrating, high-stress instrument on which to communicate.
It makes perfect sense to provide an alternative forum for people
to reach us. We take Customer Care seriously, which is why someone
will be able to communicate with the CEO, Customer Service or anyone
supporting the site (company policy dictates all key employees from
top management down are required to take customer calls, e-mail
or LivePerson communiqués at least once per week). The extension
of this tool to our website visitors is one more way for us to show
that we care" said Langston.
