HATIS
Corporation and Dahlberg Sciences and Earmold Design Form Partnership to Offer
Assistive Communications Technology Solutions to Canada
Walnut
Creek, CA – September 4, 2001 – HATIS® Corporation, announced today
the formation of a strategic partnership with Dahlberg Sciences and Earmold Design.
HATIS is a privately held Assistive Communications Technology (ACT) solutions
provider, offering Hearing Aid Telephone Interconnect Systems (HATIS) to hearing
aid users to enable interactive telecommunication. Dahlberg Sciences and Earmold
Design is a manufacturer of audiology and hearing instrumentation and the largest
distributor of Assistive Listening Devices (ALDs) and Assistive Communications
Technologies (ACTs) in Canada. Under the terms of this alliance, Dahlberg has
been selected by HATIS as an authorized HATIS distributor in Canada.
For individuals wearing hearing aids, HATIS provides a line of products to be
used in conjunction with a hearing aid and telephone. All HATIS products are developed
with a patented induction technology, which transmits audio signals directly to
the hearing aid, eliminating the need for increased telephone or hearing aid amplification.
The Dahlberg and HATIS alliance unites the core strengths of each company
and will give hard-of-hearing Canadians access to telecommunication and wireless
solutions only available to the hearing community until now. Dahlberg will provide
distribution services throughout Canada to its more than 600 customers, while
HATIS will provide its full line of patented business, home, and wireless ACT
solutions. The combination of Dahlberg’s large and widespread customer base with
HATIS’ industry-leading hearing aid headsets allows hard-of-hearing customers
to experience the telecommunications world as never before. The result is a breakthrough
in telephone-hearing aid interconnectivity for the largest disability population
in Canada.
“There are more than 2 million hard-of-hearing people in Canada,”
said Alan Moore, President of Dahlberg Sciences and Earmold Design. “With HATIS,
we know our customers are receiving a top-tier product. This alliance allows us
to offer our customers a reliable, technologically advanced solution to meet their
telecommunications needs.”
William L. Morgan, HATIS Corporation CEO and
a 12-hour-a-day HATIS user said, “Dahlberg’s history as an industry leader in
ALD and ACT distribution gives us the ability to bring our products to a larger
audience. Dahlberg’s far-reaching customer base will serve as an opportunity to
provide HATIS solutions not only to the business professionals of Canada, but
also to the home users and growing population of wireless users.”
“Hard
of hearing individuals unable to enter the workforce before will now have the
tools they need to succeed,” said Alice M. Morgan, President and founder of HATIS
Corporation. “This partnership will provide much more than just an ACT solution
to the hard-of-hearing population in Canada—it will provide a life changing opportunity.”
