HATIS Corporation Receives European Union CE Mark Designation

Walnut Creek, CA - January 15, 2002. HATIS^® Corporation (Hearing Aid Telephone Interconnect Systems) is proud to announce their European Union CE-Mark (Communauté Européenne) compliance and designation.

The CE-Mark is the official European symbol required by the EU (European Community) for all electric and electronic equipment that will be sold or placed into service for the first time, anywhere in the EU. This valuable designation validates to the buyer or end user that the product fulfills all essential safety and environmental requirements as defined in the European Directives, #93/68/EEC, dated 7/22/93.

To sell into the European Community, a product must carry the CE-Mark and be accompanied by an EC declaration of conformity document. The CE-Mark therefore assures manufacturer component/machine conformity to the CE-Mark standards and represents the seller's declaration that the product meets all applicable EEC directives. Member states cannot refuse any electronic or electrical product that has been designated with the CE-Mark. Alice Morgan, President and Founder of HATIS, is proud of this landmark for the company. The European Community currently consists of Austria, Belgium, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and Sweden. These member states will not prohibit, restrict or impede the placing on the market and putting into service in their territory of machinery which complies with the provisions set forth in the EC directive. Twelve more European countries have applied to become EU member states and are starting to adopt the CE-Mark requirements to ensure that their goods can freely move throughout EU member states.
