HATIS®
Corporation is the leader in the Assistive Communications Technology
(ACT) market with its Hearing Aid Telephone Interconnect Systems®
(HATIS). HATIS' unique, patented sound interconnection system enables
individuals with moderate-to-profound hearing loss to hear conversations
when using hearing aids and telephone handsets. HATIS customers
experience greater confidence, superior resonance, little or no
electromagnetic interference, longer hearing aid battery life, and lower
stress levels than that provided by ordinary neck loops, silhouettes,
volume control, TTY, or hearing aid compatible devices. HATIS can be
connected to cellular, cordless, and landline telephones along with the
new Web-enabled, handheld computer PDA communications products.
HATIS' patented
telecoil inductive coupler was developed in the late 1980s. As a child,
the inventor of HATIS discovered a correlation between magnetism and
hearing aids while playing with a U-shaped magnet around her body-worn
hearing aid. For the first time, she was able to hear the everyday
sounds that surrounded her. As an adult with profound hearing loss, she
invested several years in the research, development, and patent
processes of the HATIS coupling ear hook used with hearing aids. This
new technology allowed the inventor to hear and speak on the telephone
for the first time in her life.
Alice Morgan,
President/Founder of HATIS Corporation, discovered the HATIS product in
1995. In January 1999, Ms. Morgan purchased the HATIS patent and later
that same year the HATIS Corporation was formed. Ms. Morgan is committed
to reaching the hard-of-hearing and deaf communities and making HATIS
technology available to every person using a hearing aid.
Ms. Morgan assured
customers that all HATIS products would be held to the highest standards
of quality control one would expect in a headset on board a NASA
spacecraft and assembled by a significant number of minority/disabled
persons. The HATIS product line is currently manufactured in the USA and
is ISO 9001/EN 46001 certified, with factory standards equivalent to
those demanded for components used in pacemakers, hearing aids, and
surgical devices manufactured in the same plant. These same standards
will apply to all HATIS products, regardless of where they are
manufactured.
HATIS hearing aid
headsets are available through authorized HATIS distributors. Clinical
audiologists and hearing aid dispensers nationwide are also rapidly
joining the HATIS Corporation distribution team to accommodate local
consumers' requests to test HATIS products.
HATIS products
have been featured on the Today Show, national radio, television, and
news media, including Business Week, Hearing Health Care, The Hearing
Journal, Wireless Week, and Working Woman Magazine.
HATIS Corporation recently announced their European Union CE-Mark
(Communauté Européenne) compliance and designation. With the CE-Mark
compliance, HATIS products will be able to be sold throughout the
european community. This mark assures manufacturer conformity to all
CE-Mark standards. |
